Copyright notices: What if I change my surname? What if someone else has the exact same name?
I'm adding copyright notices to all my source code files:
Copyright (C) 2013 My-First-Name My-Surname
But what if someone else is also named My-First-Name My-Surname? What does the lawyers and judges think about that? How would they know who is the real author? Is there something I can/should do about this situation? (So they'd know for sure)
What if I change my surname. Then, how do other people know that I'm still the copyright holder? Is there something I can/should do, to avoid trouble with copyright, after I've changed my name? (I don't intend to change my name though.)
Right now I'm actually writing the copyright notice in this unusual manner:
Copyright (C) 2013 My-First-Name My-Surname (born 1979)
because I have a somewhat unusual name, and I don't think anyone else with the same name was born in 1979. Do you think it's a good idea to add "(born 1979)"? Or can it cause any troubles? It cannot possibly invalidate the copyright notice?
